CAMP HOLIDAY TRAILS is a camp for sick children is located near Charlottesville.  It is a favorite charity of VA Pythians.  Fredericksburg Lodge #22 also donated $10,000 to it. Work weekends are held twice a year.  During these weekends, Knights helpout with repairs and groundwork at the Camp

Hospice Contributions

This year the Pythian Sisters reported $880 contributions to Hospice.

VOLUNTEERISM

For the past twp years Pythian Knights and Sisters have been encouraged to volunteer in their local communities.  Certificated were given out  to members who llogged and turned in more than 100 hours of  volunteer service.  About 50 of our Virginia Knights and Sisters received these certificates

BINGO

             Several lodges hold Bingo games to raise money for local and national charities.  Fredericksburg Lodge alone raises over $100,000 a year on its biweekly Bingo games.  It takes at least 12 workers to staff each of these games (plus a lot of record keeping).

Virginia Dare Temple donated $573 to thia charity

Donations to Strelitz Diabetes Institute for Research

             Norfolk Temple #3 started raising money for the Diabetes Institute in 1995 when Sara Fitchett was  Grand Chief.  She started the project for her granddaughter who has type 1 diabetes.  Ever since then the Temple , with the help of families, friends and other Temples in the region have raised money for the project.  Norfolk Temple together with Portsmouth and Virginia Dare Temple has a fund raising fashion show and luncheon each year.  All the models come from the Temples.
