Grand Chief’s Reception

             A lovely reception for Grand Chief Judy, put on by Norfolk Temple on Saturday , Nov. 13th was attend                    Virginia Temple #1 collected and donated food to the local food bank .The Temple donated  cuddly dressed Teddy bears to residents of a nursing home Each bear had been lovingly dressed in handmade garments created and sewn by a Sister.  The bears even had undergarments.  All garments had Velcro fasteners, making them easy to dress and undress.  The Temple also collected jewelry and other items to be used as prizes at the nursing home’s Bingos.The Temple once a month staffs the Bingo kitchen of Fredericksburg Lodge #22’s bingos. These bingos allow the lodge to make thousand of dollars of charitable contributions each year.

 Portsmouth Temple #4 put on a Christmas in July party for residents of the George Washington Health and Rehabilitation Center. They arrived costumed as Mr. and Mrs. Santa, reindeer and elves. Sisters distributed 80 Teddy Bears to residents as well as lots of “Christmas” cheer.  In February, with the help of Atlantic Lodge and other tidewater area Knights and Sisters raised over $4000 for a needy area man (Howard Tabor) who had run up big medical bills because of Cancer.  They held a 250 club and dinner to do this.

             Martinsville Temple #23 Sisters donated paper supplies, coffee, low dose aspirin, sugar, creamer etc to the Free Clinic of Martinsville and Henry County.  Pictures were included of the supplies and the Sisters, as well as a copy of the thank you letter from the director. The Temple donated $25 to Christmas Cheer. The Temple sponsored an elderly lady (through Southern Aging) for Christmas.  She submitted a wish list which included a coat, panties, socks, and a blanket.  The Temple purchased all of these for her.

The Temple went to Harmony Hall a few days before Easter.  They played bingo with the residents, provided prizes, and served refreshments.  They also filled small Easter bags with candy, lotion, tissues and tooth brushes.  These were distributed to the residents.  Pictures were provided of Sisters preparing the gifts and of the residents..

The temple donated $50 to the Grace Network which went to meet critical need of families in the area.  A copy of a thank you letter was provided.  The Temple sent a donation of $125 to the Museum of Natural History in Martinsville for a brick.  The brick will have Martinsville Temple #23, Pythian Sisters engraved on it.  It will be a part of the walk around the Museum..

             Virginia Dare Temple #33 Lots of Sisters from this Temple joined the Knights is making the 7th Annual Bobby Riggs Motorcycle Ride a great success (raising over $18,000 for Children’s Hospital of the Kings Daughters). 

             Norfolk Temple #3 The Temple had a fundraiser to raise money for the Strelitz Diabetes Institute in Sept, 2006.  The Temple also attended a nursing home in their area and had a little party for residents

Diabetes is the Grand Chief’s Charity this t
