WELCOME TO NORFOLK TOUR

RIDING NORFOLK CITY TOUR. A great way to get oriented to the area, enjoy a narrated riding tour through Norfolk’s beautiful historic district and restored areas. Your tour guide will point out may attractions which are within walking distance of your hotel, such as Nauticus - The National Maritime Center, the Battleship Wisconsin, the Beautiful Macarthur Center featuring over 150 shops, restaurants and department stores, and the Moses Myers House, built in 1 792 featuring over 70 percent of the original furnishings. You will drive by old St. Paul's Church, built in 1739 and the lone survivor of the 1776 bombardment of Norfolk by the British - the church still has a cannonball embedded in its outside wa1l Drive through historic (Ghent and see the beautiful turn of the century homes, as well as the Chrysler Museum of Art, one of the top twenty art museums in the country.
NAVAL STATION NORFOLK TOUR. Tour the Norfolk Naval Base, the largest naval installation in the world. Home port to 8 ships, 26 aircraft squadrons and headquarters of the Atlantic Fleet. The complex occupies over 8,000 acres of land and is home to over 100,000 military personnel. You will ride past the 14 piers and through the Naval Air Station. You will drive by the historic homes built for the 1 907 Jamestown Exposition on “Admiral’s Row” which house the flag officers.

 Nauticus is a fun and exciting interactive science center with a maritime theme and features more than 150 exhibits including computer and video interactives, giant screen films, exotic aquaria, touch pools and shark petting. The USS Wisconsin, one of the last and largest battleships built by the US Navy, is berthed next to Nauticus and is open for main deck tours.

`      Walk the short distance from your hotel (2 blocks) to enjoy a three-hour dinner cruise on the magnificent Spirit of Norfolk. The ship leaves the Waterside pier area and travels north on the Elizabeth River, passing Nauticus, the National Maritime Center, Portsmouth Naval Hospital, Portsmouth Marine Terminals, the Lamberts Point Coal Piers, and the Norfolk Naval Base, home of the Atlantic fleet.

      The Spirit features a top-of-the-line buffet with several hot entrees. The selection includes beef, poultry, and seafood, fresh vegetables, potatoes, salad, rolls and butter, and dessert.

      Following dinner, enjoy a live band of DJ playing all your favorite hits. In addition, the Spirit features professional performers who provide lively entertainment throughout the cruise. The ship has two fully enclosed, climate—controlled lower decks and an open-air upper deck.
